Kenya Cautiously Re-Opens

Like the rest of the world, Kenya is cautiously trying to return to normal in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. On January 4, all schools in Kenya reopened. Students and staff are required to wear masks while in class. School holiday breaks have been shortened, and an additional term added this year so that students can catch up.

The SAS Children’s Centre has also reopened with additional precautions. The number of children in the dormitory has been reduced to allow for social distancing. All children and staff members must wear masks while at the Centre. Seating in the dining hall has been adjusted to allow for social distancing. Sanitization points were created to ensure everyone cleans their hands regularly. Workers clean the Centre three to four times a day per national mandates. No visitors are allowed at the center. Regular medical checkups are done to look for any COVID-19 symptoms among the children. Vaccinations for adults have been slow to roll out. So far, three of the SAS Children’s Centre staff have been vaccinated.

Thanks to all our supporters as SAS continues to provide the vital support these children need!
